Welcome

Tranzinfo is a network of Australian and New Zealand transport libraries.

What we do

Since the early 1990s, members of the transport information profession in Australia and New Zealand have joined forces to promote quality information delivery to the transport community. The Tranzinfo network encompasses information professionals from road, rail, water and air transport.

Originally the brainchild of Bert Elson from the Transport Commission in Tasmania, and called Translib, in the mid 1990s it became Tranzinfo, to reflect the Trans-Tasman cooperation of both Australian and New Zealand libraries.

If you work in a library in Australia or New Zealand that covers transport-related material (air, road, rail or marine transport), then your library should consider joining the Tranzinfo network to enjoy the benefits of network membership.

Tranzinfo serves to keep the transport information profession current and connected through the promotion of efficient resource allocation (such as interlibrary loans and consortium purchasing), knowledge sharing, and links to the wider library community. Regular teleconferences cover topics of interest and issues facing member libraries. Membership is gratis and participation in network activities such as consortium purchasing and reciprocal resource sharing agreements is not compulsory.
